Biography
Dr. Mário José Politi is currently a Professor of biochemistry for under graduates and Colloid Chemistry for graduates at the Biochemistry department of the Chemistry Institute of the University of Sao Paulo. He received a Pharmaceutical degree from USP on 1974, a Master degree from USP on 1978, and a Ph.D. from Clarkson University on 1983.After these years he became a full Professor at the Biochemistry department on 2002. He has over one hundred publications in International Journals in the areas of Colloids and Photochemistry.
Research Interest
His current interests are in new materials, colloid polymers, silanes, siloxanes and nanostructured colloids. Mostly in the areas of .Colloids, e Surfaces and Surfactants, Photo chemistry and Photo physics and Organic Physical Chemistry.
Biography
Cláudio Francisco Tormena is Associate Professor of the Institute of Chemistry at University of Campinas – Campinas - São Paulo - Brazil. He received his PhD (in chemistry) from University of Campinas in 2000, under supervision of Professor Roberto Rittner. Part of his doctoral was developed at the University of Liverpool from 1998 to 1999 under supervision of Professor R. J. Abraham. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Campinas from 2000 to 2003. From 2009 to 2010 during a sabbatical period, Dr. Tormena stayed in the School of Chemistry at the University of Manchester working with Prof. Gareth A. Morris. He has published more than 130 peer-review papers and more than 100 communications in national and international meetings.
Research Interest
His research interests are focused on the experimental and theoretical NMR parameters, conformational analysis and Matrix-Assisted DOSY for mixtures analyses.
Biography
Nicolás A. Rey was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1976. He got his Ph.D. degree in inorganic chemistry from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (Brazil), under the supervision of Professor Ademir Neves, in 2008. Currently, Rey is an Associate Professor at the Department of Chemistry of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), where he coordinates the Laboratory of Organic Synthesis and Coordination Chemistry Applied to Biological Systems (LABSO-BIO). In 2014, Rey received a fellowship as a promising Young Scientist of the State of Rio de Janeiro (FAPERJ). He is a member of the American Chemical Society and the Brazilian Chemical Society. In his 7 years at PUC-Rio, he has graduated 5 Ph.D. students and supervised 7 M.Sc. theses. Professor Rey has authored 25 papers in several distinguished peer-reviewed journals and has a patent concerning the use of a compound belonging to the chemical class of hydrazones in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's.
